Dougie, as fondly named by the team, had been fabricated using scrap metal over a number of weeks by different learners, as a skill building exercise. This course is specifically for unemployed learners, to provide them with the skills needed to get back into work in the industry.
After much deliberation over what to do with Dougie, the team decided to reach out to Just for Dogs, to see if the sculpture could help them raise money.
Just for Dogs is a charity that re-homes dogs from all backgrounds into their forever homes and relies purely on donations.
The centre has regular open days, like the one our Team attended, where families considering adoption can meet the dogs as well as support with fundraising. Our team had a fantastic day and would highly recommend the visit to those considering adding to their family.
“We got to meet all of the residents (we loved all of the dogs but we secretly had a soft spot for Gus). It is absolutely heart-warming to see the time, effort and love that all of the staff put into each of the dogs in their care. It was great to see how many were being adopted today.” – Qualitrain Engineering Academy Trainer and Assessor, Ashley Bates.
The team are looking forward to supporting the charity in future with more creative donations!
