How to Influence Improvement in Your Team →
Scapa believe their people are truly their greatest asset. Scapa Industrial UK has been working together with their employees to help them move ahead by investing in training and development programs for the manufacturing team.
One such example is the Lean Manufacturing Operative. This qualification involves 10 Scapa Ashton Manchester-based Production Supervisors working towards level 2-4 standards and is being delivered by Qualitrain. Developed by leading companies within the automotive and manufacturing industries, this modern qualification blends continuous improvement principles with good manufacturing practices to develop the right level of knowledge, culture and behaviour for today’s challenging industrial environment. In addition, many of our manufacturing cell leaders are working towards gaining the Improvement Technician (Level 3 Yellow Belt) qualification, focusing on coaching, training and delivery of improvements within their area of responsibility. This in turn is further complemented by the Improvement Practitioners course (Level 4 Green Belt), that develops skills using lean support tools, to manage projects and lead successful change practices.
Despite the complexities of distance learning due to COVID- 19, all participants have risen to the challenge and have been working towards their credits with enthusiasm.
This on-going training is already delivering results: 12 production operators received Scapa recognition awards for delivering over £100,000 of material efficiencies with many more projects in the pipeline.
“Our drive to give our production team the best lean manufacturing tools to improve efficiency and practices has been very rewarding as the team have really delivered in terms of enthusiasm, commitment and identification of improvements, which will further cement Scapa UK’s culture of continuous improvement,” said Scapa UK Manufacturing Manager Matt McCullough.
This external training has been further complemented by product and market-based internal training carried out by Scapa Global Product Mangers and delivered to Scapa UK senior manufacturing and quality team members to create a greater awareness of customer needs in relation to product performance and market applications.
