Rail Management and Union Backs Qualitrain

The National Union of Rail Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) was so impressed with Qualitrain’s work to improve Health and Safety at First Great Western that Qualitrain’s Alan Bates was asked to speak at a recent conference.

Qualitrain was initially brought in to assist First Great Western’s John Seville in his mission to improve workplace safety at the company’s Saint Philips Marsh depot. John kindly commented that Qualitrain’s programme had achieved, “an unprecedented impact on health and safety”, and that, “the achievements have also been recognised by our onsite union, RMT, who recently invited Qualitrain to an RMT conference where they discussed the effects of ‘5S in improving Health and Safety at work.”

“First Great Western is a fabulous company,” said Alan Bates, “and we have been able to develop a really excellent relationship with both FGW management and the RMT membership, with everyone working towards a common goal and doing so with great success.”
